    Description

    2004 Volkswagen Touareg Premium.
In 2004, I went to the VW dealership to look at a V10TDI with wife, and she liked it, but that car was reserved for the owner of Vista VW BMW. Priced at 68k I was not willing to pay that, but good thing because the EPA had allowed 400into the USA, and when they did their emission testing, it passed, but it had European low sulfur diesel in the tank. When they used USA diesel, it failed and all importing was stopped until mid 2006. This one was one of the ones that made it in.
I bought this Touareg for my wife in Nov 2007 with just under 50k on the clock. Car came from Dallas, TX, so the mileage didn't bother me. My mistake was the car was a surprise for her birthday and her response was “It's a truck”.  I said, yeah but its a really awesome truck. Well that VW truck became my second car, and she got a2008 Jaguar XJL SuperV8.
I drove the Treg until 2014 where it was put into storage at a friends garage. Then it moved to the lot behind the building. I added a few things to the Treg while I owned it; 22 inch Victor Equipment racing wheels, Brembo cross drilled rotors on all four wheels, front hood fender, side mirror, and front bumper shield (which was a bad idea), deleted the EGR, KN filters, replaced the Prop Shaft (drive axle) with updated configuration, and front and rear radar detection. I replaced the headliner at some point with factory VW material which still looks good.
All of the suspension is working as it should, car starts and moves. All of the tie rod and control arm bushings are good. Interior leather seats are still soft.
The car sat outside until 2016, and when I picked up the car, I was not real happy about how the Florida sun took its toll on the bumper shield, top surface paint, and what the heat did to the interior parts coming loose from heat. Many of the LCDs on clima, console and gauges become fogged or cracked. Car just had new tires put on and had the brake rotors fine cut to remove rust from sitting. It started and ran fine, I drove it home about 40miles, without any issue. Car had it usual super duper power, shifted and drove great. I was ready to clean up the Treg and either start driving it or put it on the market. I did an oil and filter change and replaced the fuel filter. Car started and drove perfect then a day or two, then car when into limp mode. After spending a few hours of trouble shooting, I figured out with my VAGCOM that the 3 diesel water sensor wires had peeled off and were grounding out causing the short when I removed the fuel filter housing, replaced that sensor. That solved the limp mode issue. I shortly time later I discovered that there was another problem causing a fault. Understand, I am a very electrically competent and have a VAGCOM VW, Bentley, Audi, and Porsche testing tool. I am able to diagnose may auto problems better than most mechanics and truthfully, there are not a lot of V10 VW technicians out there, to include most VW dealerships. VAGCOM says its an electric fault on injector 3 and 4. While I seriously doubt it is an injector, it is more likely the injector harness (which I have bought and am including 2extra harnesses with this sale) or the tandem fuel/vacuum pump causing low fuel pressure. I also have 2 used and working injectors and a pair of ECU16 ECMS. Part are available overseas for Phaetons V10 and Touareg. My problem is I have no time to deal with this anymore. Getting old, renovating a house and trying to do a 7.3 1996 Bronco diesel swap..
Bottom line is the V10 is a great motor, its solid.  the transmission is solid, prop shaft is good, rear diff is fine. Glass is intact, body is good and rust free as well as the frame.  At some point there was a minor sunroof leak because of leaves in drain tube. Nothing major but interior will need to be cleaned out.  You would need to decide if you want to part it out, or spend some money getting replacement parts to get the truck back to its glory. I have found numerous part supplier from Germany and on eBay.  The dollar is doing well and while most of the engine parts are Touareg and Phaeton v10 specific, many of the other parts out of the v6 and v8 are interchangeable.  There are a lot of Touaregs out there, just not many v10s.  The engine is worth a whole lot of money.
Clean Title in hand, all the extra spares in the car.  Door interior skins, headrests, 2 decent AGM batteries, the Wheels probably work 00, pair of ECMs, injectors, harness.  If sale goes over 3000 you can have the VAGCOM with software.
It will drive onto a trailer. It won't drive home.
Ask questions and I will answer truthfully.
