LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON: The Tale of the Madara Horseman (KRUM the FEARSOME)Bulgaria 1930 10 Lev & a 1999 20 Stotinki
: The Apple Doesn't Fall Far From the Tree
The 1999 20 Stotinki is in perfect condition, while the 1930 10 Lev shows some wear equivalent to most coins of this variety, however, it must be said that there is some green spotting from former PVC damage on this coin (as seen in the pictures). Please use the pictures for a better, (the best), description on condition. This is a slightly lesser version of the ones I have (or had) for auction at different times. Check my current Auctions, if your curious or interested enough, they are slightly better than this fixed price item.
The Apple Doesn't Fall Far From the Tree
: The 10 Leva coin, was a highly popular coin in its time, made 1 year (1930), 1 Year (1941), and 1 Year (1943) with an image of 'Krum the Fearsome' (He was Khan of Bulgaria from 803 until his death in 814, which is emblazoned on the reverse of the coin). This coin was issued under the reign of Boris III of Bulgaria (the Tsar of the Kingdom of Bulgaria from 1918 until his death in 1943). After 62 years of hibernation the image of Krum reappeared in 1992 with a series of Leva's and Stotinki's, only this time the image was generic and referred to as a "Madara Horseman", although the images of Krum and the "Madara horseman" are nearly identical, the loss of historical context is kind of a sad thing. It again appeared 7 years later on the 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 Stotinki's. One of which is included in this set. This particular set has a 1999 20 Stotinki, paired with the 1930 10 Leva (Both Coins represented in the pictures are the ones you'll receive). Enjoy this set featuring 'Krum the Fearsome' (of the first millenium) and the 'Madara Horesman' of today.

During his reign the Bulgarian territory doubled in size, spreading from the middle Danube to the Dnieper and from Odrin to the Tatra Mountains. These 2 coins are perfect for any level collector, or history buff. Historically, this set is magnificent, and could be the beginning of a journey to hunt down the lost or living image, and history of Krum the Fearsome, and the story of the lion, a story i don't know, but am sure curious about.
Fine print: The price includes the coin which will be carded (encased) and shipped standard mail in safe packaging ensuring that your coin arrives in excellent condition, eBay fees, and/or Paypal fees (which can take almost 1/4 of the sale, especially on small coin purchases), and a very small premium for me.
