The R2 model was introduced in 1956 and continued in the line until 1959.  This one has the serial number 7225 which I believe is from late in the production, so I am calling it 1959.  When I first tried it on a tank, it was leaking air and did not breath well even with the leak.  When I opened it, I found that the main diaphragm was damaged and the exhalation mushroom valve was crispy.  Luckily I have some spares and they mostly worked.  It still leaks air a little after you take a breath, but if you blow air back through the inhalation tube, the leak stops.  That would indicate that the diaphragm isn't popping back into place by itself.  So I'll say that the regulator valves are "kind-of working".  Would I take it on a dive?  NO!  Well, maybe in the shallow end of a swimming pool.
