    Description

Vintage Scuba! Scubapro's WIDE VIEW MASK
In the late 1960s there was a competition between scuba gear manufacturers to see who could make the biggest, & most ridiculous dive mask. US Divers won the contest!
Whether called the SuperView, WideView, WrapAround, FullView, MaxView or 'I Can See Everything View', for a few years these giant masks were all the rage. I know - I bought one in 1968!
It was hard to argue the aggressive advertising of the day. Apparently, each one offered the diver unlimited vision with some claiming to give 180 degrees of vision (more than a person has
    without
    a mask!!).
Scubapro was not about not be left out of this game.
It took them a bit longer but this is their contribution to the Wide View craze.
It has no model name. Either they hadn't thought of one yet or didn't bother.
3-Windows, giant purge in front, finger pockets to equalize & it has a double edge seal - novelty at the time.
This mask is NOT in great condition. The rubber is quite dry and the skirt, while still flexible has a small tear at the bottom edge and is a bit distorted too.
No strap but it takes a standard mask strap.
    The clips are fine.
The metal frame has some corrosion but would probably clean up nicely.
This would be a really nice display in your vintage collection!!!
A nice, very old, piece of scuba history.
I will be listing hundreds of old & rare vintage scuba items over the next weeks. WATCH THIS SPACE!
