The cover photo is in reference to an article about diving in rivers looking for the gold that the normal prospectors couldn't get to.  The author said the gold paid for his trip plus some.  I'd bet there is still some to be found.  If that doesn't "Pan" out, there's always rivers in Alaska to check out.  Another treasure hunting article is about a trip organized by Mel Fisher, of Atocha fame, to look for wrecks on the Cortez Bank, off California.  That trip was not so lucky.  Check out the photo of the Table of Contents to see the complete list of articles.  This magazine is in excellent condition.  Probably the best condition of any of the SDMs I've sold recently.  The paper is quite fragile and would tear just by turning the pages aggressively.  No torn or folded pages.  No splits on the spine.  No writing, stains or highlighting.  Even the staples are without rust.  A tiny bit of wear on the corners.
